Hi,
I am currently looking at both Pinnicale's DV and DV500 and have a few question to ask on these products.
Firstly I'd like to know what the main differences between these to packages are, why is DV better than DV500 or the other way round?
From some web site it says that DV500 includes TitleDeko, Hollywood FX and Impressions DVD. Can you confirm this for me please, also are these full products or limited, i.e. will getting Hollywood FX or TitleDeko at a later stage give me more than is already included?
DV is listed as a higher level product than DV500, will it include any other software, i.e. TitleDeko, Hollywood and Impressions??
Lastly I would like to know a few technical question, Is it possible to import .AVI, .MPEG and .MOV (or some of them) directly into these packages. I have a number of video footage that is on CD/DVD in these formats and would like to reuse them. Also if I import footage that is not the same size (i.e. 400x300@25fps and I'm working towards 720x576@25fps) can I control its size. This has been a problem with some packages as they stretch or do not allow for the image to be re-positioned or moved on the screen.
Sorry for so many questions, just trying to make certain I get the best package for my needs.

Hi!
The nmain difference between the Edition DV500 and DV500+ is the video editing software included. Edition comes with Pinnacle's new Video Editing software ( Pinnacle Edition v4.5 + training) while normal DV500s come with Adobe Premiere. Before you go and make a decision, I'd suggest that you request for an Edition trial CD from the main Pinnacle site. It'll definitely help alot in deciding on whether you should plonk down the extra bucks for it. -
You can download Edition Trial version. And I suggest you to go to www.pinnaclesys.com for answers what is included or not.

I just looked there and there are 2 major diff.
Edition DV = Impression DVD Pro (multi audio, video, subt.) + IEEE 1394 PCI I/O card
Edition DV500 = Impression DVD SE (1audio,1video,NOsubt.) + Pinnacle DV500 PCI I/O card
Both versions include:
Edition 4.5
Hollywood FX (integrated)
TitleDeko RT (integrated)
Alphamagic Gradient Wipes (integrated)

Thanks,
I think I'll be going for Edition DV, I have tryied the online FLASH demo and also the Demo that came on the cover of DVME this week. All looks good.
However biggest issue is that I still can't see how to import .AVI or .MOV? I have a stock of CD/DVD's with old footage in this format that I'd like to re-use but could only see an import for EDL in the software.
On the SMARTdv web site (http://www.smartdv.co.uk/editiondv.htm) it says that it can
Input Formats
Import .AVI, QuickTime, .WAV
Import standard image formats such as TIF, TGA, BMP
Capture from 1394/DV camcorders and VCRs DV25-compressed
Audio format: 16bit PCM stereo, 32, 44 or 48KHz
