  1. How can I create a VCD that can give an instruction to my DVD-player that start viewing in 16:9 (PAL) mode on my TV ?

What is the capture resolution 16:9 (PAL) VCD ?
What are the settings for TMPGEnc to create 16:9 (PAL) VCD ?
Is there somethig special that I have to do when I burn the mpg with Nero Ahead ?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. VCDs don't support a 16:9 aspect ratio only 4:3. And don't make so many new topics of the same post. thats not going to get your question answered faster, only make you hated.

Is this true that VCD's do not support 16:9?

  5. If you have a widescreen video to encode, select full screen (maintain aspect ratio) as the video arrande method. The film will then be encoded at the correct aspect ratio with black bars at the top and bottom. So although the output file is fullscreen, the actual video portion maintains its widescreen aspect ratio.

  6. 16:9 on VCD why?

    - For belgium the standard is PAL 4:3 (25 fps), this standard is since a couple yaers ago extented with PAL 16:9 (25 fps)

    - For VCD this means in 4:3 mode an movie size of 352x288 pixels and ofcourse the same resulution for 16:9 but the upper and lower 24 lines are black (read unused and wasted Mb on the VCD).

    - So, I wonder if there is a possible to fit a 352x240 movie on an (nstd) VCD with some trick that the DVDplayer will instruct the TV to display that movie in 16:9 mode so that the TV will set the upper and lower black bars. On an DVD(disc) it is possible to to that but not with a VCD even if the settings for 16:9 are used in TMPGEnc.

Does any know what or where the the instuction to 16:9 is on dvd-disc and can we this (giving a try) import on (nstd)VCD ?

    Thanks everyone.

  7. I was wronge about not being able to do that. sorry. In TMPGEnc load the video, then load the VCD Template, Not VCD Film (non-standard), then load unlock template. In the encode settings set the aspect ration as 16:9. I encode most of my VCDs this way now as to not waste bits on black, and it seems to work very well. Very sorry for giving you wrong information.
