Captured a lot of TV shows [all Friends eps, x files, mutants etc] from capture card [2000-2002].. what is the best settings [in terms of saving file sizes to put 10 eps or more into a DVD] what template do I use in Tempgnc.. the MPEGII and just change the aspect ratio.. as I tried to do it to 640 x 480.. it looks might strange.. as the aspect ratio of most the tv shows I captured were ranging from 352 x 240 to 640 x 480. I am not sure if I will end up watching them again... ideas would be appreciated. As it is a hobby... as I am now going to DirectTV and Tivo recording.. more easier and 100x higher quality than cable.. but hate to just delete it as it took me a lot of time then ^_^

maybe just burn them as data on dvd and watch them (if you ever are) on your pc instead .. at least you would preserve the quality you have now.. with out mucking about ..

this is all I do, go from tv capture to DVD. With tmpgenc I load the capped file as the source file and set the pixels to 720x480. Then I set the motion quality to Highest. 2-pass VBR with the highest possible average bitrate (depending on the length of the clip and the amount of high-motion scenes) is what I use, usually 1500 - 3000 - 8000.

Go here and wait a couple months. Much simpler solution for what you want to do...

You would be able to fit at least 10 eps per disk as that the bitrate is much lower (and you could even use the vcd template in Tmpeg.) The picture is not as good but I think it would be at least VHS quality.
