  1. Howdy,

    Hope someone can help....

I am ripping a DVD with multiple episodes and transcoding them so I can fit both on the disk with the original menu. When I use IfoEdit to 'author' a new dvd and put the vobs back into the folder with the original menu the first chapter point (ch1), from the chapter selection option, will start the movie, but so will all other chapter points (ch2 - ch9). They all start at ch1.
When I use IfoEdit to remux my transcoded m2v back into the original vobs of the disk, the menu chapter selection works, but the video is total sluggish.

So up until now I've settled for starting the episodes and then once play begins then hitting the 'next' button to go to the chapter where i left off.

To clarify, the chapters work in the episode, but not from the chapter selection menu. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance

  2. did you put the chapter file in when you reauthored the new vobs.
then when you exchanged the vobs did you run ifoupdate.

  3. Yep, I put the chapters in when I reauthored. I have never used ifoupdate. When I put the transcoded vobs and associated ifo and bup files back into the folder where all the original dvd menu stuff is, i do a Get VTS sector, then test play it in IfoEdit. Again, I have chapters that work off the remote no prob, it's when I try and select a scene through the original menu, that it always begins at chapter 1 and not the chapter I selected. I tried running IfoUpdate, but got Error #75, Path/File access error.

I put under Original IFO, the one from the disk (copy on hard drive)

I put under Authored IFO, the one IfoEdit created for the new vobs

And under Backup, to another folder.

Beats me what going wrong, any ideas?

    Thanks

  4. @spanky

when you have finished reauthoring you only exchange the vobs, nothing else.
    then run ifoupdate.

  5. You need to charge money for this....

It totally fixed my problems, now that I know how to fix it my only problem is I'm gonna wanna go back and fix all the other multi episode disks I have, but oh well perfection is a bitch

btw, after you mentioned Ifoupdate i searched the forum and found that you have posted about using it many times. I can't remember seing it though, in any of the 'guides'. Must be a secret!?!

    Thanks again
