I'm trying to save some old home movies, on VHS and 8mm, to DVD. I have the WinTV PVR 250, which works fine for capture, either at "DVD standard play" or "MPEG-2 12Mbps". Is there a single, reasonable priced software package that will enable me to import the captured clips, edit, author and burn a DVD to my Phillips DVD+RW (without the problems described below)?

My Dell 2.4GHz PC came with MGI (now Roxio) VideoWave 4 SE. VideoWave's editing/authoring capabilities are great for what I'm trying to accomplish, so I've done my editing with that. Ulead MovieFactory SE came bundled with the WinTV and I'm using that to burn to DVD.

When I produce lengthy (>30 min) files with VideoWave the video and audio get out of sync. If I produce multiple shorter clips and combine in Ulead's MF Toolbox the video quality deteriorates.

Is there something about the clip formats between VW and MF that is causing the loss of quality? What would cause VW to lose sync between video and audio on long clips?

Is there a specific part of this website I should be looking at? Any other website that would address what I'm trying to do?

Thanks!
