  1. i have converted avi's to ntsc film mpegs in the past with success and they play fine on my hitachi standalone but i recently d/l' xvid avis and my burning programs will not burn in ntsc film. video/audio plays fine on my computer from the file i created but not from the disc.

    video-23.976 audio- ac3 48000/192 codec-xvid

solved my problem here is what i did:

1.set up tmpgenc as per Okewl's guide
    2.downloaded pinoys2201 ntscfilm template(this site)put into tmpgenc under templates
3.scanned avi with nandub for errors
4.converted audio from vbr ac3 to wave with nandub
5.re-named nandub wave filefile with .ac3 on end
    6.opened ac3 file with headache and converted to stereo-wave layer2 44100/224 audio
7.loaded original avi vid and newly created wave file as audio
8.set up tmpgenc to full screen(keep aspect ratio)
    9.converted with tmpgenc
10.set up nero to overburn and to create non-standard video
11.burned a 4x speed resulting ntscfilm vcd in synch.

    hope this helps some...

  2. OK, I'm not 100% sure what your source is, but basically x(S)VCDs do not support 23.976fps video, only 29.97. If you encode using the TMPGenc film template then the 3:2 pulldown flag is checked by deafult, this telecines the 23.976fps source to 29.97fps.

If you just change the frame rate to 29.97fps than as you saw that will mess up the video and you'll lose audio sync.

If your source is 23.976fps make sure that the 3:2 pulldown option is enabled in TMPGenc. Using the TMPGenc NTSC_film template will do this for you.

here is a brief synopsis of what i did:

    1.set up tmpgenc as per Okewl's guide(ok)
2.frameserved video to tmpgenc with vdub(ok)
3.converted audio with vdub renamed wav to ac3 converted to wave with headac3he-wave is now 44100/224 layer2(ok)
    4. multiplexed in vdub(ok)
5.tried to burn in vcdeasy/nero/cdrwin(coasters for all)

  4. check out okewls guide

you need to use vdub make direct stream copy of audio
    rename wave file audio.ac3
then use headac3he or besweet to convert ac3 to real wave sound follow the guides it worked for me

the unknown tag (2000)is ac3 or dolby digital 2.0 audio. It is non-conforming to virtual dub 1.4.13.

  5. I know that this is not the perscribed way to do things, but I have found that when I have xvid with AC3 sound, I make my adjustment in VAFPI per Okewls instructions. I downloaded :
    http://www.michael-moenning.de/start.html
    first.
and then I just load it as is into TMPEG. If you don't want to go through all the framserving and stuff.
Any other time I divide my audio and video in Vdub, but as you say, it doesn't recognize the format.
I have had no problems with audio sync. Try it and see.
