Im so fed up![]()
The problem is its easy to just rip a dvd 5 disk with dvddecrypter but its so damn hard to do it when its more than 4.3 gig
What i have been doing is using smartripper to grab just the vobs and ifo file (main movie files in dvddecrypter) then i use roxio easycd latest version with data/udf setting then i rip it and it completes ok then i play it on a dvd player or ps2 and it doesnt work but it works in my pc in file mode.
Also i used nero but it wouldnt work with file as big as 4.2 gig saying it wouldnt fit on disk
so what am i doing wrong is it software, or should i be grabbing other files of the original dvd like bup files. You see all i rip of the originals as i said were the main ifo and vobs then burn say 4 pts on 1 disk then the rest on another with final vobs and same ifo again works fine on pc but not on seperate players
please help cheers![]()

yes, if you are just ripping vobs and then burning those to a dvd it will not work in a dvd player. you will need to grab the bups and ifo and the video ts file( i think). you can use ifoedit and create new ifos and it will also create the BUP files that you need. if you can play the dvd through ifoedit dvdplayer then it should work on your standalone.

This is only for DVD9's that can not be reduced to a workable 4.7 (4.3 GB by ripping just the main movie or all of it if size willing, if so It is just a straight rip and burn with (DVDDecrypter), another good freeware program, or whatever program you prefer.
I have had great success with this method on DVD9to5. It is not all freeware but I have spent many nights and countless time on a lot of software and found this method flawless, if followed precisely, on each attempt. You have to decide for your self what works for you time, cost quality, ect. I have made many, many copy's of my DVD's and no costers since I started using this process. None of this is my software nor do I have any affiliation with the software providers I just know it makes great DVD's and it is all still available unlike most of the guides I tried that get you half way through the process and then you find out some of the software or other necessary component does not exist any more or costs an arm and a leg.

If the main movie is less than 4.7GB the easiest way to go is:
1) Rip the whole DVD (Video_TS.* and ALL VTS_xx.* files)
2) Run IFOedit and choice the VTX_xx.ifo file with the main movie
3) Choose 'Vob Extras', then select the audio and substreams you want to save
4) Click 'get VTS'
This will create a new set of VTS/VOB files ready to burn
