How good is the picture quilty when using a video capture card and ruglar cables from a vcr? I know it's not as good as S Video cables but will the picture be watchable?

it depends on what you are trying to make and at what resolution you capture / encode it.
i use mjpg codec to capture at 480x576, and convert it to svcd or cvd.
the qulity is very nice.
its looks much better then vhs, and it's ENJOYABLE not just watchable.
my advice whould be - make at least a CVD or SVCD.
VCD is not that good, the picture is more blurry.HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -
The picture is definitely watchable. I do it all the time. I have been copying TV shows previously recorded to tape to CVD format. With the proper settings capturing from a good pre-recorded tape I have created good to excellant quality XSVCDs (720 x 480 res.)
