  1. I have LORD OF THE RINGS 1 extended version on dvd and i want to convert it to svcd. But the movie is on 2 dvd's. 1 dvd doesnt fit on 1 svcd but on 2. As i dont want to get 4 svcd's i want to be able to make 3 svcd's of those 2 dvd's. IS that possible?

rip all the vobs to your hard drive first (rename second disk vobs as a continuation of first disk and then put in same folder) , then you have a couple choices..

you can make a new ifo files with ifoedit and then use dvd2svcd would prob be the fastest

you could skip dvd2svcd and do it all manually

someone may have a better idea

    also - what is wrong with 4 cd's ? or disk 1 on 2cd and disk 2 on 1cd ?

disk2 on 1 cd disk two is almost two hours so that too would be 2 cds

  8. 1 hour for each svcd is very decent quality on 2 pass vbr for anamorphic widescreen. try what BJ_M suggested it should turn out good. I'm just about to do LOTR extended but I'm doing 4 xsvcd's

Total running time is actually 3.5 hours.

  10. might be hard to link the vobs from first disc to next disc...

at least with me, linking made the audio from the second dvd disc outta sync...with LOTR extended

i never had this problem with other movies that required linking of the vobs from different DVDs..(i.e. stargate, godfather 2, goodfellas)

btw, prolly good idea to make the movie into 4 discs...as the extended version is 3.5 hours long
