  1. I saw a lot of posts about 1x media that can be burned at 2x speed. Since my Accu media showed in Nero that it can be burned at 2x speed but real speed was 1x (56min), I thought that this post can be usefull.

Please post here these info about your 1x media to confirm that your media was burned at 2x speed.

Media name, Source, Purchase Date, Amount of data, Burning time

    My test :
    Accu 4.7GB DVD-R (Silver/Purple), Meritline, 11/25/02, 4GB, 56min (1x)

  4. LEAD DATA and MORE DVD-R media are only 1x certified.

The were burned in my DRU-500A at 2x with Nero and played well in my Pioneer 444S standalone DVD player, as well as to a friend's Philips standalone player.

    media cost about 3€ p.

    Have a nice day!

  5. Hi All,
I did burn 24 DVDs without a coaster (12 ACCU and 12 Ritek).
    I bought ACCU ($0.86), then RITEK DVD-R 4.7GB General (around $0.83)
Both are Silver/Purple in cake box

    Sony DRU-500A - Firmware 1.0f
Burn 3.5GB in 24 minutes (I guess that is 2x)
Intel P4 - 2.53GHz, 512MB, HardDrive with 8MB buffer (I don't know if this help the burning speed, I think it is)

  7. I can verify the RITEK DVD-R's that are mentioned above will now burn at 2x with the 1.0f firmware (they didn't with 1.0d).

Got mine for 0.83 each, plus 100 DVD cases +Free UPS ground shipping at: http://store.yahoo.com/supermediastore/ritekcombo.html

total was $113 with the DVD cases (which are pretty nice).
