I was just wondering I have a:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
256.0MB RAM
and it usually takes me 14 hours to finish a SVCD.
I use CCE and use 4 pass VBR>>
are there any settings I can change to get good quality SVCD's and narrow the time down to about 6-8 hours.?
I put Process Priority on High but it didnt seem to make that much of a difference.

Using (high bitrate) CBR will speed things up dramatically while maintaining high quality. The downside would be that the final output may use more CD's.
Setting priority high doesn't do much good if your computer isn't doing much else anyway. It only matters when the encoder has to compete with other processes for CPU time.

i agree....maybe you should only use 2 pass VBR instead....it may not be as great but it will halve the encoding time....and if you use CBR it will halve it again....but it is all about quality....you might have to think about a faster processor (e.g. a 1800+ AMD Athlon XP) of your bord supports it....the RAM wouldnt have anything to do with encoding time but i think you should bump it up to 512MB to give you some better performance all round in applications and games....do you mind posting a reply on my post here http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137518 it would be great if you could....byez for now
