Okay gang, self admitted newbie in need of your expertise.

I have several mpgs and avis that I've downloaded that have some sorted of error involving the time length. The clip will only last for about 20 seconds, when I know there's at least 10-15 minutes of footage here. It's like a time signature error. If I click around on the current position of the clip, it will bounce around through the entire footage, but still ends at the in correct time...

    VERY WEIRD!

How can I go about fixing this? Is there free software out there that could help???

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out!

    Oh, GO VOTE!

Mpeg1 or mpeg2 video? Identify using mediainfo if you don't know.

For mpeg1 can you try re-multiplex the video in tmpgenc(under file->mpeg tools and choose multiplex and choose the mpg as both audio and source) or try the old mpeg corrector. For mpeg2 files might Pvastrumento work, open the mpg and make new mpg.

But the best program for mpeg file repairing is Videoredo(using the quickstream fix), but it is not free.
