  1. I capture an AVI with virualdub open cce sp and add my AVI (no problem) but when I press start to encode a window pops up specifying Transcoding.(that’s all it does) The cancel button is grayed out so I can’t cancel. When I do task manager the task manager says the program is running, but just sits there at Transcoding. Can anyone help me with this?????

That's the version I use. But I don't load avis directly into CCE. First I create an Avisynth script (.avs) with FitCD. I don't know why you are getting this error, but if you are converting to VCD/SVCD or DVD you will need to input a compliant (in terms of resolution) avi/avs file.

  5. Thanks again for the reply,
I thought I could just load the AVI. Maybe I can’t load it that way. Maybe Fitcd is the step I’m missing.

You mention that you load a captured video in CCE. I'm assuming that it's over 1 Gig. filesize. Check the manual, but I'm sure CCE won't recognize anything over that limit. That's why we frameserve with a .vdr file.

  7. Thanks for the reply Pijetro,
I haven’t had time to try anything but I will try to frameserve when I get the time. The file is about 18GB.

I don't think filesize is a consideration if you are using an Avisynth script - eg using FitCD.

There is nothing wrong with frameserving with Virtualdub, but it is best used when there is a specific need to. I think it may slow the encode down, even if not using any filters.

The limit was 2Gb on for v2.50. I don't no if that is the case for later versions.

Is it a trial version? I think it behaves like this once the trial has expired.

  10. It is a trial version. Maybe that’s my whole problem. I’ll still try to frameserve when I get the time.
