CCE 2.5 error with Ghost Special Edition

I get a "cce encoding failed: Error" Video check-sum is different fromt hat of previous pass. Source video data or time code may be different. Please check video tape or the information file. I ripped with smart ripper 2.41 and used DVD2SVCD 1.1.0 and CCE 2.5. I tried this on two tries with both getting same error. Never had it on any other movie. OS = XP Pro. 3 Pass VBR. MPEG 5.1 sound. Need more info? Help me solve this someone!

normally this means something has changed since the information file was created - .VAF
delete this file and try again - CCE normally will recreate it

The thing is CCE created it on both attempts. Sounds like CCE might be crashin out again...

Hav you ever done a successful multi-pass encode with this version/installation of CCE. I only ask because this error is one seen commonly with a certain hacked warez distribution of CCE floating around the net.

Ive done about 30 so far in the last few weeks. I have a full version with legit serial. Its just this movie. I upgraded my DVD2SVCD to version .C from B and started over...same thing. Grrrrr. I might just make it into a DVD with DVD2DVDR but its still very buggy. I'd hate to waste a disk.

OK, I just ripped The Beach with Dicaprio with smartripper 2.41. When I double click on the IFO file and try to play from VOB files with WinDVD 4.0 it dont do anything. When I rip with the built in ripper of DVD2SVCD it seems to work fine. Do ya think this is the problem? I am ripping th e movie and both the 6channel sound and 2 channel AC3 sound. Am I doing something wrong here?

Fuk, maybe that was way off. I just ripped it with DVD2SVCD and used rip only. Same thing. Cant be played via the IFO/VOB files. I th ought it could. OH well. Back to square one I guess.

Hi there. I know this reply is a little late but I can confirm you problem. I was just about to post this exact topic to see if anyone had the same problem but figured I'd do a search for CCE and GHOST and see if anyone else has had this problem first. Well sure enough I got this thread..

Well I'm getting the exact same problem.. And I've tried it twice now on 2 different computers.. It always gives this error at 21%.

So it's definatly something with this movie GHOST as I have also done lots and lots of other titles and not once had ever seen or heard of this error.

The first time I had ripped it with DVD Decrypter already so I didn't use the ripper in DVD2SVCD but when I got the error I tried using the ripper in DVD2SVCD but got the same error at 21%.

Anyone know what's going on here? Has anyone reencoded this movie with CCE?

Really? Interesting... I haven't backed up my shawshank redemption but I take your word for it. I'm sure someone will have an explanation sooner or later. It must be a CCE 2.5 problem because I can't seeing it being DVD2SVCD since it just launch's CCE.. I'm not sure if DVD2SVCD works with the latest version of CCE but I heard there were probs so I've stuck with 2.50 but it seems to have a prob with certain titles as we've seen...

If you use 1-passVBR in CCE you won't get "encodeing failed" problem. Personaly I think it works better in 1-passVBR. If you look you'll find threads about this. It's only my personal expierence but I think multipass looks slightly grainy compared to 1-pass.
