  1. Is it possible to do the VCD Header trick with Maestro instead of Spruceup? I have no problem doing it in Spruceup, but with Maestro, every time I save my project, convert the .m2v files back to 480x480 and re-enter Maestro it crashes.

  2. I assume the "VCD Header Trick" you mean using MPEG-1 headers on your MPEG2 file... keep in mind that SVCD resolution (480x480) is an illegal DVD resolution, and probably what is causing Maestro to crash. I'd be interested in hearing about your SpruceUp projects... did you test them on your playe?

The closest legal resolution to SVCD is that of 1/2 D1 (352x480), the same used in CVD. Try encoding (re-encoding possibly, I'm afraid) in that size, and you don't need to perform any header trick, Maestro will accept them as standard DVD resolution video streams.

  3. I have been successfully doing this with SVCD files, using TMPGEnc to reencode audio, DVD Patcher to change header information and DVD Maestro to compile. No problems with DVDMAestro.

  4. Turns out my crash problem was due to the menu I created which used a clip from the movie. So for anyone else out there doing this stuff, dont use clips from the movie in menus if you're doing the SVCD header trick.

I had forgotten that I had done that.
