  1. Can anybody tell me why TMPGEnc CAN`T recognise framerates anymore?? Every time i load an AVI it just says the file is 30fps,even though it is a PAL 25 fps or even NTSCfilm 23,976. I just found this out,and i always load the template, that corresponds with the fps that TMPGEnc says in the bottom, but now i have to check each file with Gspot, Just wondering why all of a sudden it won´t recognize the FPS anymore..

What do you mean by TMPG won't recognise framerate? Where are you reading the framerate of the .avi?

Generally the correct procedure is to determine the framerate of the .avi using Avi Information, or Virtualdub. Then you load the corresponding template into TMPG. TMPG takes it's framerate from the template, unless you specifically tell it not to, and you need a pretty good reason to tell it not to.

No, actually TMPGenc will recognize the properties of your source, including fps, and set the output settings accordingly. It didn't always do this, not sure which version the feature was added.

If you have a template loaded it won't do this though, always defaulting to the settings of the last template loaded. If you click file/new project before loading the avi then it should make its settings according to the properites of your source, and it will list this in the bottom left of the screen.

King-Of-DK, my guess is just that you have a template loaded, try hitting file new project. If it still doesnt work then its probably a codec conflict somewhere. Have you installed any codecs recently? Maybe go to options/environmental setting/vfapi plugins and raise the direct show filter to a higher priority. Otherwise just get the properties of your source from another program like you are doing.

I made the assumption that if the intent was to encode to VCD, SVCD or DVD he would have a template loaded...

  5. I always do New Project, and yes i have recently installed my whole system again from scratch, including all codecs. I already have the direct show and avi reader on higher priority,it is no problem to use other programs,it just made me wonder howcome it stopped showing the file properties,it was kinda nice, not to have to open another program..

  6. I have the same problem when loading the avi into tmpg. After reseting everything, I load the avi and at the bottom where it lists the properties of the file it always shows the framerate as 30 regardless of what the file actually is. The weired thing is this started happening around the same time I was starting to have trouble with jerkyness in my mpgs.

Coincidence, I dont know I am still having the trouble!

You two don't happen to have the nimo codec pack installed do you?

All I can say is double check your codecs. Get rid of anything you don't specifically need and just install the bare minimum to play your source files. If you can play it, then you should be able to encode it to something else. All I have installed is the intervideo mpeg2 decoder (WinDVD), huffyuv, and divx5 and TMPGenc properly sets my settings according to my source.

  8. I have tried many different codecs along the way and I forgot where I put some of them. Is there a program I can use to locate all the different codecs I have installed so I can decide which ones I dont need?

I dont have the whole nimo codec pack installed because when I install the whole thing I find all my programs wont play any of my files, so I do a custom install. Could the problem be a codec conflict?

My guess is that its a codec conflict, but that's just a stab in the dark. I only asked about the nimo codec pack because I have seen so many cases where a problem was solved simply by uninstalling that.

To see what codecs you have installed:

    Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/sound, video and game controllers/Video Codecs/properties.

From there you can manually remove any codecs you don't want.

Are we talking about the same thing? The details at the bottom of TMPG should reflect the template you load, not the encoding source. If you load the template and then the avi, nothing should change unless you are using an unlocked template, when the source will override certain settings, depending on what is unlocked.

  11. Sorry, I meant after loading the avi but before I load the template that is what it shows. Usually it shows the properties of the original avi but it shows the framerate as 30fps.

I tried deleting the program and reinstalling it and now that doesn't seem to be happening - WEIRED!

My versions of TMPG show the framerate of whatever template I last used. If you load the *unlock* template and then the avi, it should reflect the properties of the avi.

unlock.mcf in the Extra directory, which allows you to unlock the various settings in an already loaded template. It is used in making customised templates.
