Hello,
I read back through Dec 2002 and could only find the relative Jan 5 2003 (No sound after VirtualDub) but had no answers there – including the web link to V-Dub FAQs.
Just downloaded the latest V-Dub 1.4.10 and cannot get audio with the captures.
I have WinTv2000 from the WinTv PVR, and can capture and playback Mpeg-1 clips with great sound, no problem – so essential setup is good.
I have tried running Audiosel.exe (Cd Audio source --TV Audio source – Line in source) to no avail.
I am running a Win2000 OS.
I don’t know V-Dub that well…any settings I am missing?
Thank you n advance!
Paul

Download the Nimo's Codec Package as it comes with audio codecs that you'll need.

Puertorican138,
Thank you. The site where the Nimo codecs are, is under construction, so I can’t getthem right now. ITMT, could you tell me if the Nimo codec Pack installs in a way in which the proper audio codecs are incorporated into VirtualDub? And if not, could you please, at your convenience, give me a little more specific info? Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hello again,
Just to add something…..
Tonight I downloaded Vegas Video and used its Capture standalone, and the .AVI clips in IT have no audio either. If someone has a clue, please give me your two-cents!
Again, I can Capture Mpeg-1 in WINTV2000 just fine with audio – but not .AVI
Thank you -
I dont know how your audiosource is connected to your computer, tv-card/sound card etc, and what type of connection, koax/composite..
But if its through the line in on the sound card you may have forgotten to un mute the line in? -

I just ran into, and solved this problem. When capturing with my ADS USB Instant Video card, I go no audio when using VirtualDub, but did with ULEAD Video Studio. The problem was simply that I hadn't told it which sound input source to use. ULEAD had it's own sound config and I had set it up to use the ADS card rather than my soundcard. However, VirtualDub had no such configuration. So in WinXP I just went to the Control Panel and under Sounds and Audio Devices, I just selected the ADS rather than my soundcard and the problem was solved.

Thanks everyone for your attention and responses. I found the problem to be imbedded in my WINTV2000 capture software, only accessible through the Remote Control NO LESS, where there are some .AVI audio settings. Mine was set to Mono, apparently the default! I changed it to 16 bit stereo and now have sound in .AVI captures.
Thanks again,

I have a similar problem. With Studio 1.06, I can cap video and audio using the Pinn. DC10+ card and an audio input to my Soundblaster card. However in every other freeware prog. I've tried, I can't find an audio 'source' dialogue box, just audio compression. Consequently, I only get the poor quality sound that goes with the video signal and not the input from the soundcard.
All my settings are correct on Win. mixer for no mutes and line in.
Can anyone help? There must be an audio source box somewhere.
Thanks.
