Any encoder which you can change resolution to half dvd can do it.
Tmpgenc, whatever. all cvd is half dvd resolution.

    You could also try CCE.

  5. there isn't an encoder designed for CVD. Two popular encoders are CCE and TMPGENC. If you want an easy way to encode to CVD (such as a DVD rip), go to www.dvd2svcd.org and download their software. "out of the box" it will give you a final product that is CVD. You will need to have TMPGENC or CCE during the encoding part. I have made a screen shot how to guide (along with links to download the software) on one of my websites. It's not a pretty page yet, but it will give you the visual on how to set up DVD2SVCD to do a CVD.

  6. That's great, i know what programs to use, and i found the template for TMPGEnc However, when i preview the encoding in TMPGNec it looks very condensed. This is because is' 352x480.

Is there any other way to make it 480x352?

and if u can't, is it possible to do anything at all to make it wide not tall?

    THANKS AGAIN!!

  7. You have to set the aspect ration correctly. This varies from movie to movie.

    punker096:

In reply to your last. You were looking at it in preview mode in TMPGenc. Burn it to CD and chances are it will look fine when played back in your standalone DVD player on your TV. I only use the preview mode to see where I'm at during the encoding of a film. With CVDs and SVCDs at least on my system it never looks like the proper aspect ratio in the TMPGenc preview mode, but shows as full screen through my standalone DVD player.

  9. I could change the aspect ratio, but won't that give me black bars on the top and bottom, and also won't i loss resolution?

Because i would be changing the ratio of the video resolution, not the 352x480 ratio?

    OHH soo confusing?!?

  10. one more thing.

i played both SVCD, and CVD and the SVCD looked better.

Is that normal, and not to mention i could fit 2 epsiodes without a problem on one CD with SVCDs, but i would have to source range the same episodes if they are CVD format.

P.S. Or does anyone know of a better way to make CVD look better?

  11. Aspect ratios can be confusing. I think that www.doom9.org has a nice article explaining them.
