When I have to send a large video file over the net, I usually try to convert it to the WMV format using Window Media Encoder 7.

In the pass I had no trouble, however, when I try to do it now with a MPEG-1 VCD file I get the following pop-up:

One of more codecs required to open this media could not be found (0XC00D1883)
Or if I try again I get:

WMENC caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:0449d678.
    What the ???

The file is a "normal" VCD file, and is playable with-out any problems in my other players or can be converted using other encoders.

    So why can't I use WMENC 7?

  2. did you convert the .dat file to .mpg before using it as the source? it may not like the vcd wrapper.

    There was no dat file.

The video in question was made directly from photos using ulead video 5, but, I have this problem no matter what encoded made the MPEG file.

And also Video Encoder 7 has trouble with even uncompressed "regualr" AVI files!

With ANY AVI files I keep getting a pop up saying:

...is not acceptable media file. It may have been an invalid format or may be corrupted (Ox80040154)

I have no idea what us going on?

Some of my players Video Dub VideoLan have no problem with Mpeg and/or AVI. Others like Window Media Player (6&7), Divx may or may not ask for codecs, and some like EO video won't play any AVI.

Yet the Gspot Codecs keeps informing me that I have the correct codecs on my computer

Could it be that some of these programs can't see the codecs that are on my system?

    Should they be reinstalled???
