"Plea for Help" I had REcordnowMax demo downloaded and loaded to my system under Win ME. After I upgraded to Win XP, RNM won't run. It tells me I don't have WinASPI installed properly. I tried to reload it under Win XP and it fails saying "Can't find Pxhelper or WinASPI not installed correctly" "Please locate the file MycdPro.msi". Of course I can't find this file anywhere, I've searched the mIcrosfot web site. I think this could also be the problem I'm having with Bitsetter software not finding the drives, as the ASPI driver is not loaded properly. However, my Nero burn program finds the drives no problem, so does EasyCe creator.
I went to the sTomp web site and can't find anything about ASPI drivers, or what they require,... there is no installation instruction. MycdPro.msi should be in the sTomp REcordnowMax package but it isn't. MyCDPro.exe is the main executable file from RNM.
Any help anyone can provide will be greatfully accepted.

Did you uninstall & reinstall ?
Also, have a read of this:

it may be of use. I imagine where it mentions 'Veritas' this might now be 'Stomp'?

TWOdogs,.. Thanks for the suggestion. Last night after hours of frustration, I decided to uninstall RNM and reinstall it. To my suprise that worked and RNM loaded OK, and successfully Burned a disk. However, I used the "Wizard" just to try it out, and it gives you now chance to change any settings,... you just load the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders and press "GO", and it burns. When it finished I found out that the default settings were to burn in "Track at ONce" and leave it open,..but it did work in my APex 1500, but would not play in my Sylvania DVD. I erased the DVD+RW today and burnt it again with the correct settings. It still will play on my Sylvania DVD. The only disks I've made that will work on Sylvania are the DVD+R disks which were "Bitset" to DVD_ROM mode and burned in Nero. The problem is that now that I'm on Win XP, I can't get Bitsetter to work anymore. It disables ASPI drivers and therefore can't see my drives to select them. I'll go look at the link and see what I can learn there.
Progress is very slow,... Thanks again."Technology",...It's what keeps us all moving forward. -
Just to close out this problem,... I got in contact with the author of Bitsetter and within a few notes had everything worked out. There is nothing wrong with the Bitsetter program and win XP. It just operates different because of Win XP. Instead of getting a full description of the drive, like what comes up with Nero when you select a drive, you just get the drive letter in Bitsetter. It doesn't matter that the ASPI drivers have been disabled,... Just select the correct drive letter and then the rest works.
Also, just some added info. My drive is an AOPEN 2412Pro., but I believe it is a repackaged Ricoh 5125A, since Bitsetter really only functions on drives that are interface and hardware compatible with the Ricoh design. Anyway, it works for me. It forces DVD+R/+RW drives to set the disk book type to DVD-ROM, which makes it compatible with most DVD players. However, one big problem,... Some DVD players will not load any kind of DVD+RW disk reguardless of the book type. I can only speculate that this is due to the reflectivity of DVD+RW media. It will work fine on DVD+R disk. So far I've tried 4 brands of DVD+RW media, Memorex, Verbatium, and TDK, and AOPEN, and none will work in my Sylvania DVD player. Only the DVD+R work. The DVD+RW do work in APEX1500, and an RCA player my daughter has.
Hope this helps others."Technology",...It's what keeps us all moving forward.
