OK, I have a Belkin VideoBus II USB running on my Dell Inspiron P4 1.8GHz notebook. I am losing a lot of frames and also seem to lose sync with the audio a lot of the time!?!
What I would like to know is, what sort of capture card should I purchase next? I want to be able to capture video and audio off VHS tapes and convert to VCD so that I can trash my old tapes. I have created VCD's off DVD's so have all of the VCD software required, all I am having trouble with is getting the raw AVI or MPEG footage captured onto my machine.
Any help will be MUCH appreciated.
Cheers,

USB capture devices are not the best. USB 2.0 is better, but few devices around.
Given you have a laptop, firewire card with Canopus ADVC-100 would probably be ideal - or other Analog to Digital converter - even a Sony DV Camera with Passthrough if you can get your hands on one - especially if VHS to VCD is a one-off.
In terms of your current capture, what format are you capturing to? AVI (Huffy/MJPEG) or MPEG ? What speed is your hard-disk? Defragged?
What resolution are you capturing? What software used to capture?"speed's just a question of money. How fast can you go?" - Mad Max, 1979
