I bought it a month ago. Very good program. Getting started is fairly easy. This is one serious program although more stable than premeire. I also puchased the printed hardbound manual for $30...highly recommended.

  3. Go to the Sonic Foundry site and have a look at the Vegas Video forum.

    http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/default.asp

I think you can get a demo. It has a good interface and appears to be fairly comprehensive. It is easier to use than Adobe Premiere, but Premiere has more comprehensive support for plugins etc at this stage. There was a thread on that forum where someone was talking about making a Vegas Vid plugin that could then use any existing Premiere plugins you might have.

The Sonic Foundry website has links to download some tutorials, too.

  6. Love this program... I Am using DC10plus 1.6 (loaded Studio for the drivers) and Vegas Video 3.0 on Win98SE for editing. No hardware issues with this program and I can output through DC10plus and make mpeg files.

  7. Excellent program! I've posted some info in the news forum about the new version (called Vegas 4), which is coming out in a month or so. However, don't let this dissuade you from buying Vegas 3. I just bought it a few weeks ago.

Like the Photoshop of video, Vegas is tremendously powerful. Trust me, you'll never learn all of it's features. But the best part is that it's relatively easy to learn. I can't imagine using any other NLE.

As for the purchase, there are a few recommendations:

    1) Buy VideoFactory for $69, then upgrade to VV3 for $199 or..
    2) Buy SF's Digital Video editing book which comes with VV3 LE , $50, then upgrade to VV3 for $199

Either option makes better sense than paying $400+ for the full version. A good forum for learning Vegas is here:

  10. Vegas is the best.

I've tried pretty much all of the video editors out there, including 20k media 100 hardware rigs and I would rather use Vegas.

  11. I'm making the switch to vegas this week.

I do prefer the interface of adobes timeline and razor tool, compared
to vegas frame display, that'll take some getting used to.

However, I've just had it with adobes bugs.
