  1. I need some suggestions on what to do. I just built a new system which contains:
    athlon 1.4 ghz
    512mb ddr
    20 gig 7200 rpm hardrive
    ati radeon 64mb ddr
And asus A7A266 Motherboard Ali Magik 1 Chipset

I installed the win tv pvr and the thing crashes when I try to load the wintv2000 program. As soon as the program begins to load the whole system just seizes up.

I uninstalled it, tried the new drivers from the hauppauge website, and same result. I tried the beta driver from their website, and the same thing happened again. I downloaded an update for my mother board which hauppauge said on their site to download. Still no help. I switched the primary to force primary, allow overlay, and dib draw (like the website says to do) and the bastard still freezes on me.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice on what to do. Please don't suggest getting a different type of tv card. I already have a different wintv card and ati tv wonder. I would really like to get this thing working.

    Thanks in advance guys.

Is there an IRQ conflict ?
Take a look in control panel > System > Device Manager > Properties.

IRQ 10 ? Any sound card on there as well

maulwurf sound like ACPI problem, You turn off ACPI in the bios and assign IRQ to each PCI slot.

  5. Well thanks for the suggestions guys. I found out what the problem was though. I had to change the pci latency from 32 to 8 in the bios... But now I have another problem. I installed the latest wintv program which seems to templates for svcds but none of them will play on my pioneer dv333. I also can't open the captured mpeg2 files with tmpgenc. The only one i can play in my pioneer is the actual hauppauge vcd template.

    Any suggestions on this one?
Does anyone do mpeg2 captures on this card or use the svcd templates and burn with nero to svcd? If you do please tell me what exact template and settings you use.

    Thanks in advance

maulwurf go to my web site http://shs-tv.m0ss.com/ click on How To Use button you see the How to converting MPEG2 files to SVCD with TMPGenc and check out the How to burn in your VCD and SVCD with Nero 5.5
But you need and older ver of TMPGenc or just wait a bit bit longer for the new WinTV-PVR MPEG Editor to be fix in MPEG2 then all you have to edit it drag & drop in Nero template.

  7. I have a WIN TV PVR
    System

    1.2 thunderbird 266 bus
    512 megs 133mhz
    5500 voodoo AGP
    30 gig 7200 Western Digital
    5.1 Soundblaster live
    16x pioneer DVD
    utobia DVD encoder
Win98 Gold - with of course the PVR installed
I went to the hauppauge german web site for my upgrades they give you a regedit patch that opens the settings for manual. I made my own SVCD template
    Bitrate 2520
    transport 5000
    throttle 0x070
    rate details Constant
    res 480x480
    audio 192kbits at 44.1000
this works really good for me, after I capture my source I then use TMPGE beta A to Demux so it will be SVCD compliant, burn using NERO 5.5, no problems so far.
