A direct copy/paste from vcdhelp.com article:
And yet, i did exactly what this article said; File, New, Video-CD, (create standard compliant cd OFF), dragged file (705 MB) to CD, and clicked 'burn'.. but still it whines about the CD-R not having enough space to perform this action...You can fit 740 MB on a 74 min CD and 800 MB on a 80 min CD on a VCD!
I put in a 80 mins CD-R tho..
Am i missing out on something? Settings, or... ?
Edit: btw, im using Nero 5.5+, and its an XVCD im trying to burn.. but the quote really says i can burn 800 mins on a 80mins CD-R
Thanks

Are you sure the file you're trying to burn is itself a valid VCD? You will get that message if you try to burn a plain mpg1 or mpg2. It has to created as a VCD or SVCD to have the correct header information.
-
Hmm, can't say that im sure..
i converted a divx in tmpgenc, and it says
"MPEG-1 352x240 23.976fps CBR 1750kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 224kbps"
somewhere down below in its window, these are the settings i used when i started converting... the file that 'came out', i dragged to the CD in Nero.
How do i make sure it has a vcd/xvcd/svcd header? :)
Oh and btw, now that i think of it
I created a test mpeg of only 15 MB or so, (same settings as above!), did exactly the same as mentioned in me first post, and THAT worked, it burned fine.. even played in me dvd-player, so i dont think thats the problem.. more like size-problems i reckon_o\ \o\ \o/ immz \o/ /o/ /o_ -
Do a test with Tmpeg, just load it's default VCD template. don't change any settings, encode and burn.
-
i already did a test with a small part of that same mpg, i burnt it and it worked perfectly
the reason why i wanted an xvcd is because i dont like the quality of vcd (and svcd would cost me 4 cd's instead of 3, but this is just experimenting:))_o\ \o\ \o/ immz \o/ /o/ /o_ -
Just modify the template for VCD to what you need. I've made VCd's at 720x480 resolution at bitrates of 2300 average with no problem. How high a bitrate you can use is dependant on your DVD player.
-
isn't that in a way the same as using xvcd? just a vcd template with a higher bitrate?

Make sure Nero is set to burn at least 79min 59sec...do the following:
- start Nero
- click "File"..."Preferences"
- click "Expert Features" tab
- check the box "Enable overburn 'disc at once'...
- set the "Max CD Length" to 79min 59sec
(you can go higher if you plan to burn 90 or 99 min cd's)
or
Try muxing the VCD file to "MPEG-1 Video CD (non standard)" format. Follow the steps below in the order listed:
1. open TMPGEnc and select 'MPEG Tools...'
2. select 'Simple Multiplex' tab
3. load your movie into the Video Input line (the audio and output line should fill automatically)
4. change the output file name (do not use the same name as the input file)
5. set the Type to "MPEG-1 Video CD (non standard)"
6. click Run
7. burn the output file as a video cd in Nero (not super video cd)
If this works, just encode your file as "MPEG-1 Video CD (non standard)" in the future. You will not have to do this remuxing stuff.
Hope this helps.
