Just got some Ritek in and wanted to try them out. I backed up Stuart Little2. Burned to the disc with PrimoDVD as normal. When i play it in home player it starts to pixelate and skip then freezes. On my computer it seems to play fine. I burned at 1x with my Pioneer104 w/ firmware 1.32. Would upgrading to firmware 1.4 correct this pixelation? Normally i burn with Verbatim and never had one problem. Any ideas???

  2. Sounds like your player might be the problem... Some players just don't like certain dvd-r's and will screw up, especially near the end. Best to stick with discs that work I guess.

I've had great results with my 104 on Ritek media that burns fine at 2x with 1.31 firmware and Nero 5.9.9.17. BUT, I had to go through 3 dvd players before I found one that would play every disc with no problems.

  3. question, is it really ritek media?? cause I bought some from an internet vendor and what I got was not ritek...my understanding is ritek have a dark purple dye...

  4. well... my friend in texas has a pioneer A04 and has given me 6 DVD-R's, some from Ritek some from GQ Frys brand, all had problems either audio and or skipping and freezing Video, no matter what player I tried them it, I ripped the movies off, reburned onto ritek DVD+R using my HP DVD200i, and now they play in any DVD player I have tried, this is not the 1st -R problems I have come across with either a Pioneer or Sony.

There are 2 sets of numbers on this disk. 1 set of number is printed on the inner clear ring (E6-6L16212174514A01) and the other set of numbers is on the border of the clear inner ring and the purple dye - DR-47GL16-00725. Those #'s tell what brand they are to make sure there Riteks?

Well i tried this movie on my parents Emerson. At the Columbia Pictures logo at the beginning it starts to jump and pixelate but when the movie starts it plays fine. I went from chapter to chapter and seems to be fine. So i may try again on my mine.

I have a 104 and all I use is Ritek, unbranded (the 1.29 ones)

I've burned about 250 backups and have had about 5 bad discs, but they didn't pixelate.

They spun up and began no problem, but when I skip thru the chapters, after 4 or 5 it freezes. no audio probs, no pizelization, just freezes.

    Anyone else have this prob?

note: due to the infrequency of this issure, I am almost positive it is not the media, but maybe something my computer is doing (some timed system thing or something messing up the caching of the image maybe)

I have a pioneer A04 and i use Infinity ( Ritek G03 ) and Planetdisk ( Ritek G03) and they are fine in my standalone player

I have firmware 1.31 and i was only having success at 1X for ages untill the other day when i started using RecordNowMax 4.5 instead of nero and now they are perfect at 2X aswell

If you go to firmware 1.4 your writer will not let you burn Ritek media at higher than 1x

  13. hello

    Just a quick note:

I have a Pioneer A04 with the 1.35 so it wont let me burn at 2x but 1z is fine.
I use ritek and have a Sony DVP-NS700S player ALL my dvds play perfectly. I also tried them on a OLD dvd player (like 5years old) and they worked great too BUT in completey black scenecs (I mean pitch black) the sound skips a little on the really old dvd player.

Try encoding using tmpenc at 10bit and high quality using CBR

  15. rubberman..have you tried using different burning software ???like gearprodvd or recordnow max....coz ritek disc was the only disc that I never have probelms with in my player which is panasonic..I used dvdpro and optodisc and they both skip...and for some reason nero just don't the hardware and media combination I have coz it just freeze on me to the point it pauses..

    just my 2 cents

I got them to work. I burned another movie and it works great. Also did a PS2 game and it works. I think i must of screwed on the first one cause if i skip over the beginning credits the movie is just fine. So its my fault not the media. thank god! I usually leave the computer alone too when burning.
