  1. Hi.

Took me ages to do the DVD files and now it won't burn. Nero gives the same error and prassi just spits the disc out and reports failed with errors.

I gave Gear Pro 6 a go and I thought it did not accept bad DVD files/set ups (done it on a couple of mine) but it accepted them!! Then would not let me burn as it said something about my burner (Pioneer 105) not burning DVD-R discs, which it obviously does and says it burns +R discs!

Tried to make an image and messed up somewhere, files became unreadable and no image at all to speak of.

Why won't it burn preferably in Nero or Prassi? What's up with Gear Pro?

And does anyone know any way I might burn the thing?

    Thanks In Advance.

    Hi,
If you have nero 5.5.9.100 or what ever the latest version is called you might as well forget it as DVD-video disks don't burn correctly with this version and don't work reliably i.e. menus are broken and sometimes the disks don't read in set top boxes.

The other software might not have the engines or drivers updated significantly to recognise that your drive is a valid dvd-r writer.

I use stomp Recordit now 4.5 which I had to update its PXEngine to recognise my writer which has produced disk flawlessly which work.

The next question is what authoring package are you using to produce your video_ts folder and vob files?

If you just copying ones of a pre bought DVD and expecting them to work I am afraid you might be out of luck.

I have had success with DVD_movie factory and DVD Movie studio from Ulead.

I would seriously consider investing in some decent packages after all your DVDs are quite expensive and you can't really afford mistakes.

Also to straighten out a confusion the 105 can write only to dvd-r dvd-rw disks and read the other dvd formats.

DVD-R is now widely accepted as the standard which has won the war in the computer world.

Now its the consumer war to win as they know nothing about + or - or RW or R or RAM they just want something which will works cheaply and most of all reliably.
This will depend on how these are marketed to the consumer but I suspect the set top box recordable will not take off, except for purists, as they have limited storage capability compared to say a EP 5hr vhs tape.

  4. OK thanks.

No error messages really as Nero simply said files reallocation error. Nero ver 5.5.9.9.

RecordNow Max/Prassi do same thing, spit disc out, no message bar the obvious failed...error one. Latest PxEgine installed from start.

Used IfoEdit, stripped extras etc, no re encoding. Fixed VTS secors and did IfoUpdate too.

Tried editing VTS_01.IFO in VTSM_C_ADT aswell.

It's OK in IfoEdit DVD player and PowerDVD, maybe I should burn as ISO in Nero or are there settings to turn off error detection in Prassi? Anyone know?

  5. First.... use some RW disk for test.

Second... Try to ignore that message and click OK or whatever button is there. You will have one more message that you have 60 seconds to answer... Choose Yes and continue with burning. Let me know if you were able to do that. I just did same.

  6. I use Nero 5.5.9.0 and select the following
    DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)
    Under Multisession tab ...
    No Multisession
    ISO tab...
ISO Level 2 (Max. of 31 characters)
    Character Set = ISO 9660
uncheck all other options under ISO
    UDF tab...
    Physical partition
    UDF 1.02

I don't know if that will work for you or not, but let me know.
I also highly recomend using RW discs until you know it will work

  7. @MaX_NormaL:

I was a NERO fan until I began burning DVD-R(W). Nero use to work very good for (S)VCD and AUDIO CD's but not for DVD's...

I discovered this by accident. My first DVD player was an APEX 660 (this thing plays everything). Later I bought a Pioneer DVD player and discovered that DVD's burned with Nero where not 100 % compatibles (The DISK ERROR message in some players). Then I began using the burning program that was included with my Pioneer Burner, Veritas PrimoDVD. Since that I have no more problems. Even when the created VIDEO_TS is not compatible, it refused to burn the DVD.

So my advice is that at this moment DO NOT USE NERO, until this problems are solved.

    Regards,

    Antonio S.

  8. i use both prassi primo and nero i find nero 5.5.9.0 is fine when authoring with mastro prassi is ok but i find it gives more errors than nero as long as u test all backups with a dvd rw first u wont have any bad copys that is what i have found any ways

  9. I would rather use Prassi anyway so I might leave Nero for a bit. Although I did expect it to burn this as it did burn a movie none of my other progs would before.

What about Gear Pro anyone heard of the error I had??

Is it possible to alter the files (keeping the original menu hopefully) so that I won't get the error in the first place? I know that if I do the movie only Prassi will burn it no problem. Strange that...

Maybe it's Ifoedit and I should try something else?

    Thanks peeps. :P

Did that, didn't have RW to test on but was fine in PC and not in standalone.

On to making images now then...

  12. I think I have the same problem. I do everything right, until the burn phase. Test works great, but when burnt does not play in stand alones, just the computer. I know this is crap because the 1 layers I burn with dvd decryptor plays in any single dvd player I try. What is the deal? I need to be guided through the burn process, and not to just be told to burn with nero. How do I burn it exactly? Not the way I am trying I know that for sure.....

  13. okey first get rid of the NERO its not good for dvd-burning!!!

Prassi is okey... but sometimes even prassi wont burn and give errors then there is one great solution...

It's ifoedit! Just make image-file with IfoEdit+ImgTools and you can burn that image with Nero, Prassi etc... without any errors!!!

    Thats it... 8)

  14. Woohoo.

    Finally got it right.

What I did was use Maestro, go to Tools/Disc Image Creation. If you can't then grab IMGTools. Then you put the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS into a folder.

Then in either Maestro/IMGTool browse to the folder containing those two and select it for the prog to make an image of. In IMGTools though you will also need to create a 'virtual' drive to mount it.

Both do the same thing but Maestro is a bit easier.

Then I burned it with Prassi or you could use DVD Decrypter or IMGTool 0.99.8.

Always make sure the project works in IfoEdit DVD Player and PowerDVD or something. Prassi spat the disc out when trying to burn the files for DVD as Data Disc and Nero with that error I mentioned above.

    Looks great too. :P

  15. You dont have to do virtualdrive with the ImgTools... just move the VIDEO_TS-folder in the root of you HDD...
