  1. I have an .AVI that uses the ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder (xvid) for Video and Morgan Stream Switcher for Audio.

When I try to burn as a VCD with Nero, Nero tries to reencode.

Am I doing this wrong? Should I not be using Nero? Can I code an MPEG4 onto a VCD without reencoding?

Please let me know if anyone can help.

    Thanks.

XviD is an AVI file. To create a VCD, you need an MPEG1 video stream. (Among other things.) To get from one to the other, reencoding is necessary. So, Nero is right on this point. However, Nero is a crappy MPEg encoder, so use a real encoder like TMPGEnc, then use Nero to author/burn (if you feel comfortable with nothing but Nero - a better solution for VCDs is VCDEasy, even if you have to learn a few things more to create a VCD this way).
