  1. Hi,
I'm trying to convert my collection of VHS tapes over to VCD format. Currently I have an ATI AIW card for capture, and am using TMPG for conversion and ROXIO EZCD 5 for VCD burning.
I'm capturing files in MPEG1 format as detailed in the help file on this site. Then I am converting them to VCD compliant files with TMPG, also with the settings from this site. However, after conversion through TMPG the files there is quite a bit of pixelation on the video, even though I am using the very slow setting.
I have two questions I was hoping someone could help me out with. Thanks!

1)Has anyone experienced this problem before? The captured files look great, even full screen, but after encoding they look pixely.

2)Should I perhaps be capturing them in a different format, like MPEG2 or AVI, and then converting to VCD compliance with TMPG? Would this result in better a better end quality?

Thanks a lot for your help!

  2. i like to use the template for videocd 1246kbps ntsc. then i unlock the settings and up the bitrate. the higher the bitrate the less pixels you get but the larger the file.
