  1. I have been pouring over all the forums and I am slowly picking up speed with this, however could someone pls explaine frame rates.

I have 5 films that I downloaded over the holidays and each of them has a frame rate of 14.9 frames per second.

    One is a screener Bloodwork
The rest are "dvd rips"...reign of fire , the grinch.. I have to add that the quality is good in them all, but I have nothing to compare them to.

I downloaded Jackass and it says it is 29.9...any thoughts...

I have to add that the quality of the 14.9 ones were not too good by the time I had converted them to vcd's.

Thanks very much for any responses

  2. 29.97 is NTSC, 14.9 is half the framerate of NTSC, this has been done by whoever created the video to minimise the filesize, it will not look that great as half of the frames have been discarded.

Is it possible to check the frame rate prior or during a download?

  4. Not that I know of. However, you can check the quality of a file using avipreview. See tools section.
