Hello, I was successfully able to extract a movie using IFO Mode in DVD Decrypter, recompile the files (<4.7GB) using DVDMaestro and burning the DVD using Gear Pro DVD.
The only problem I see is that for some reason the aspect ratio of the “new” DVD movie is different than the original (Original 16:9). In few words, everything appears to be stretched (people’s faces are longer than normal and so on).
After doing some research, it appears to me that the problem lies in DVDMaestro; but I don't see a place in it where I can force the program to keep the aspect ratio 16:9 in order to retain the original aspect.
Do you know how/where to force DVDMaestro to retain the original aspect ratio when compiling?
Thank you.

Im not sure if this will help you but i will try to help.
In Maestro if you right click on teh CD (project name) above the move in teh tree view on the left, then click on 'Properties' there are options for 'TV System' and '16x9 Menu Aspect Ration'.
Hopefully these are what you are lookinn for.
If not than maybe the DVD has 2 video streams one in 16x9 and one in 4:3 ratio, maybe the wrong one is selected, i know a long shot!!
Hope i can help

I found the menu you are talking about. However, these setting appear to be OK to me. I don't see in there a way to force a specific aspect ratio. Also, my original movie has only 16:9 letterbox available as selection. what I in my DVD is like a half way between a letterbox and a full creen.
Any other idea? -
Have you for example used like TMPGEnc to recompile the files at all? because inklnow in there you can change the aspect ratio of the movie, if not then i don't see why it would do this.
If you do use it then you may be able to set the video back to a normal aspect ratio but to me that would seem like wasting alot of time encoding it.
Although if it does work than maybe it wouldn't be a waste of time.
(i don't know how fast your system is, it might not take you too long to process the movie in TMPGEnc for me it takes like AGES!!!! some time up to 20 hours!!!, i need to get a faster computer, hopefuly i will soon!!) -
No, I did not use TMPGEnc since the files produced by DVD Decrypter are already less than 4.7 GB. (I do use TMPGEnc when I really need it and it takes not more than 2:30-3:30 hours the most).
Any other idea? -
The first thing i would try as you won't take a huge amount of time would be to use TMPGEnc (i know it is less than 4.7Gb) but keep the Bit rate the same and change the aspect ratio.
I think this will work. I am off ot bed now so i hope this works for you.
Please let me know how you get on when/if you try this as i would be interested to know if this works, in case i ever face the same problem!
Cheers
Nice talking to ya, hope it helps

In DVD Maestro, while your movie is on the timeline, below the timeline itself you will see a small box that reads '4:3'. Right click on that and change it to '16:9 letterbox'. I believe that's what the problem is. Check out Doom9's Maestro guide for any other help.

You are absolutely right! Now it shows 4:3. I will try to re-compile it again after selecting letterbox from the menu. I will let you know the result. It is amazing how so many things in DVDMaestro are kind of hidden. I never though that I could right-click on the little number (I did not even see the number
and open a menu... well I am learning… and it appear that in DVDs there is no ending. Goshhhhh

dwisniski: you are THE man! That was the problem. I redone the compilation after making the change you suggested and now play correctly.
Thanks guys
