I am currently running a mac os 10.2 and using i movie to piece my slide show together.

I have a GE 100N dvd player that plays the disc i did before using the mac os 10 (indigo) with i-movie and the built in burner...no vcd format.

My question is, how can i get this to work???? any help would be appreciated!

    thanks!

are you saying your GE used to play vcd but now won't?

Let me know and I will try to help.

I made a slideshow in iPhoto, exported to .mov, converted to vcd (and svcd too) in FFmpegX and they both worked like a charm.

Sorry....what i meant was that the dvd player i own now played a cd-r i made of a slide show with my old i-mac (os 10 indigo).

I used i-movie as the primary source...and i think dumb luck came about on that one...i just can't remember what it its i did.

There was never any vcd format involved.

I sincerley hope this helps you understand and i appreciate ANY help i can get.

    thanks!

Did you use Toast to burn?

Toast has the ability to make vcd

no...no toast...what i did was opened i-movie, lined up my family pics in the jpg format, exported to quicktime, clicked on "disc burn", dragged the .mov file to the window and burned it on the cd.

THAT one played fine...i'm not sure what format i used in i-movie,
ie: quicktime small, quicktime cd-rom, etc.

What i used today was the cd-rom medium quality format.

And the disk didn't play...the file shows, but will not open in the dvd player.

I'm wondering if i should have used a different format?

I looked up your player in the section on the left. I assume it is GE Digital E100N.

It looks like it will play vcd, svcd, cvd no problem.

I also noticed it will play "Kodak Picture CD/JPG"

maybe that is what you made last time. Mount that disk in your computer and see what it looks like.

I looked again and your player also plays

"MPEG1/2 ISO, plays MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring"

it looks like it can play any mpeg 1/2 file from a disk. When I get home I can look ito it further.

  10. You may have used MissingMpegSlideshow to convert you images to mpeg stills for vcd/svcd.

I have had good luck with FFmpegX.

It is freeware, check links to the left.

There is also a guide at the very top of this forum.

Use the .mov from iMovie and convert it mpg with FFmpegX.

    Good luck.
