I use an ATI AIW 128 Pro with 32MB to capture video in MPG2 format. My goal is to burn it in SVCD format for use on my standalone DVD player. While the captured video looks and sounds as I would expect, it of course isn't SVCD-compliant, which Nero reminds me of every time I try to use it to burn an SVCD with freshly-captured footage. I can easily make the footage SVCD-compliant by MUXing it in TMPEG, so that's not a problem. Or, if I use TMPEG to trim the captured MPG2, TMPEG saves the trimmed version in SVCD-compliant format, so I'm good there too.
The problem is that these newly muxed or trimmed files are out of audio sync. I can't understand why making any change to my MPG captures ruins the audio sync. I've tried using M2-Edit to trim or remux my captures but I get the same result.
Can anyone shed some enlightenment on this for me? Is there a way to make my ATI AIW produce SVCD-compliant footage automatically, as it does for my VCD-compliant captures?
Thanks!

I cannot help you with your capture cards settings, but if you want TMPGEnc to give a SVCD compliant file with audio synch try this:
1. Load the original video into Gold Wave, and save it as a wave file.
2. Load the original video as video input into TMPGEnc's main window.
3. Load the audio file from step one as input audio.
4. Load the appropiate SVCD template.
5. Select Start.
-- The resultant file should be SVCD compliant with audio in synchHello. -
I followed your advice and it worked...thanks!
A little further experimentation revealed that the key was using TMPEG's SVCD template to reencode the footage...I didn't even need to save the audio separately with goldwave. Not sure why remuxing w/out reencoding makes my footage go out of sync, but at least now I've got an easy--if somewhat time consuming, even on my P4--solution.
