  1. I bought an ADVC100 ( advertised as "hardware base box"), however, when I plug it in my firewire port (my motherboard is Gigabyte 81EXP, 533 P4 2.0GHz with built in 5 firewire ports). Windows Me asked for the driver of "new Hardware" and then I click Äutomatic search bset driver," it installed sucessfully by itself I double check and know they are acv.sys and VMM32.VXD (ntkernn.vxd) They are intergrated driver with others hardware in my PC. However the Ulead VideoStudio and Ulead MovieFactory gave a very poor pictures a while then stop, warned: You should have aother drivers for your DV source" I don't know what to do now. I suppose people from the ADVC100 did run this box from WinXP, they didnot get my problem That's why they can not give any good advice. I also bought a DV firewire capture card plug it in. Same problem.
    Anybody help me ?
    My system:
    M/M Gigabyte 81EXP P4 2.0Ghz
    1Ghz DDR ram
    2x 80g Seagate 72000rpm
    1x120g WD
    Windows Me
    Thx in advance

When it's connected and you turn it on where/how does it appear in Windows Device Manager? It should show up as something like Imaging Device > Microsoft DV Camera or VCR.

  3. It's appear as "AVC Device Class" at Device Manager (right click My Computer Icon->Properties->Device Manager tab
And in this "AVC Device Class" it has "AVC Device" and the
"Properties"-->Driver tab--> "Driver File Details" box
    it shows 2 drivers:
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\avc.sys
    C:\WindowsSystem\VMM32.VXD (ntkern.vxd)
    Microsoft Corporation File version 4.90.3000.1
    Thank you very much.
It appear any time when the ADVC100 plug in, disappear when ADVC100 is off.
However, this drive may not be proper, that's why the image in the capture box of Ulead MovieFactory as blinking scrable pictures and I can see it is capture of the movie from the TV channel I'm plugging in, it is, but can not watch or capture with this situation for long, then Ulead software warn : "Picture capture fatal failed. Deleted the scene Yes/No ?"
then PC halted I have to use CTRL+ALT+ DEL to close Ulead MovieFactory.
So far, I can not do anything. ADVC seems working properly (when switch on it has 2 blue lights and the red light on , then only analog blue light on, it's OK with this situation as ADVC100 maual said) BUT can not do naything alse.

There was a bad batch of ADVCs recently that had to be recalled, maybe you got one of them. There's also a problem with certain firewire cards that use a TI chipset. You might want to try the Canopus forum and describe the problem there. They'll be able to tell you for certain if that's the case.
