I have successfully backed up my Region 2 dvds no problem.
If the movie is too big, I reencode with TMPGEnc.
I tried to do a copy of Region 1 The sum of all fears, it was too big, so I reencoded overnight, with TMPGEnc.
Settings in TMPGEnc:
Video format: NTSC
Frame rate: 29.97 fps
Encode mode: Interlace
YUV Format: 4:2:0
DC Component precision: 8 bits
Motion Search Precision: High Quality (slow)
I used a constant bitrate of 3500.
The final dvd output was not great. When the camera was panning, or there was a lot of motion, the image would appear 2jerky", and not smooth. It looked like frames were missing, and had like a shimmering effect.
Where the movie was still, or not panning, the film was fine, only when there was action etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Are my settings in TMPGEnc at fault?
Thanks for any help.
