Subtitles to a SVCD - How?

I found out that my standalone dvdplayer can do CVD subtitles.

Now I want to know if it's possible to take for example a MicroDVD (*.SUB) or SubRip (*.SRT) subtitle and add it to one of my SVCD's (mpeg2), which I have downloaded from the Internet?

If it's possible, is there then a guide or can someone tell me, which program I shall use and how to do it?

if you already have the movie file, skip the part in the guide where it teaches you how to rip the subs from the dvd.

if you want to edit/sync/add/remove subtitles, try 2 of my favez programs: subtitle workshop and subsync.

Thanks I'm gonna try this guide.

As I can see this guide only deal with avi files or am I wrong? Because I have the SVCD and that is mpeg2 format. So I don't want to add the subtitles to a divx/xvid, I want to add the subtitle to a SVCD (mpeg2). But I only have the subtitles in MicroDVD and SubRip format, because I haven't ripped them or the movie by myself.

I have found this guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcdsubs.htm, but that seems like you have to write the subtitles from scratch. I know I could just use the subtitles I have in MicroDVD or SubRip format, and write it all down in I-author.

Isn't there a program, where you can join subtitles in MicroDVD or SubRip format with a SVCD, witout convert it to a divx and after that burn is again as a SVCD?

I used this method to add subtitles to a svcd:

Use Subadjust to convert your .sub or .srt to .SSA and then use
MaestroSBT to generate your bmps and the script (which shall be .sub if you use Winsubmux). After that you use Winsubmux to multiplex subtitles and mpeg.

But unfortunately the subtitles don't appear, when I play the movie on my dvdplayer. I don't know what went wrong, but I know my dvdplayer support CVD subtitles and not SVCD.

maybe what you did was svcd subtitles and vcd... i don't know.

but i don't think you have to write from scratch. if you do, try to cut/paste into the program the subtitles you already have. i don't know... i use the two programs i told you above and yes i take a long time (three days for blade runner, director's cut) to get the subs perfect, but i always prefer that way because i can edit and sync it better.

Too bad you cant get I-author since there is no demo, and is only for sale in china and their site is in chinese.

I have downloaded I-Author tonight, so I will try with that, if that doesn't help then I will try with submuxgui.

I have now tried with WinSubMux, SubMuxGUI and I-author, but I still can't see the subtitles, when I play the movie on my standalone. I know my dvdplayer can handle CVD subtitles, because I downloaded the sample from vcdhelp. I also know it worked, when I watched the 3cd rip of K-19: The Widowmaker.
