    Does divx have any advatages in the sound department, meaning if i have a surround sound system, 5.1 dolby digital, he whole 9 yards, and I play a Divx movie, would I be able to benefit from the technology, or would it not even matter.....

    some divx files have ac3 surround sound. so yes. but they won't play on dvd players.

    is there a way to check the file to see if they have ac3?

    open the file with virtual dub go to file, file information, will tell you all about vid and sound compressors used and bitrates etc

    If the audio compression looks like mine,then itīs an AC3.
