"Scenarist NT is a tool commonly used by Hollywood studios to create their DVDs and it's THE program for DVD authoring."

"Scenarist NT is a professional level DVD authoring program and it's price is professional as well: Roughly $39,000. Clearly, you don't get a demo version of such a program. "

What about converting their films to broadcast quality mpeg2?
Do they use hardware or software encoders? and what brands?
Is there any webpage that deals with professional DVD production?

I really dont know what they use for that, i'm sure someone on here might tho... I would assume they use a hardware based encoder tho as they are much better then software IMHO. And i would also assume that since they dump almost 40 grand into he DVD authoring software, that the hardware encoders arent cheap..

  5. Some of what you are looking for is in the DVD FAQ http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html

Basically the typical workstation would be a dual processor job with a DVD for authoring recorder (not the same as a DVD-R). A high end program like Scenarist would produce the image and it would be burned to the special DVD for authoring blank. That disc would be taken to a production house which creates a stampable die to make production DVDs (the ones in the stores are not burned).
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

    http://www.sonic.com/products/sdseries/default.htm

Have anyone tried the SD-series encoders from sonic? Are there any cheaper encoders with broadcast quality output? (Seems like the SD-1000 cost $10 0000
