You need to give a bit more information. How long are the 2 DivX you want to combine?

Do you want to create a new DivX, or perhaps a VCD?

  4. they are 2 divx file that are about 700mb each. i want to combine them and make a divx so its one file. then the combined files will be like 1.4gb and i want to compress that to 700mb as a divx

My guess is you don't care about the quality loss you will get with
this route - - oh well.

    1st method:
    -----------
Well, if its a ONE movie, that was split by the author who divX'ed it,
then what you may probably try (and is prob the easyest) is:
    * open vdub
    * import your 1st divX clip
    * next, File/AppendAviSegment... and import your 2nd divX clip

If all works ok, you'll receive NO error message, and you could proceed
as you were - - to re-encode or whatever. However..

Now, if you should get an error like "diff. data formats.. etc." file or
what ever, then, you can't "merge" the two together - probably won't be
able to anyways, but it wont hurt to try the above out anyways.

    2nd method:
    -----------
    * is to use AVISynth scripts.. ie..
    * open text editor and load in yoru tipicle *.AVS script
    * import your 1st divX clip and contatentate your 2nd divX clip,
    * next, save as new Filename.
    * now frameserve or open this *.AVS script in vdub and proceed to
    re-encode your clips

I can't give you everything here. You'll have to figure out some NEW
steps for method 2, or someone else can add to this process. I'm pretty
bushed right now. Start reading and learning about scripts

If anything, you may receive an error message in AVISynth telling you
that it can't append/concatentate the clips together. That's the nature
    of the beast (divX)

If you want to play in a DVD player I would encode to a variable bitrate (non-standard) VCD, although not all players will play them.
Then you could fit 2 hours to one disc.

To encode 2 hours DivX is possible at good quality (depending on the nature of the source material). However, this would be from DVD, not from an already encoded DivX. Watching on TV at VCD resolution would be more appropriate bearing in mind the length of the material and the second encoding, in my opinion.

However, the most suitable solution is to leave them as 2 CDs!
