  1. I have already successfuly burned a VCD that works perfectly. I've got a problem with my 2nd one.

I downloaded it as a 1 file avi. I then extracted the wav with Virtualdub. Then w/ TMPG I encoded it to mpg. While it was encoding I could see the pictures, until around the end where all it was was black.

When it was done the movie played well until, like I said, around the last 30 minutes the screen is just black, but I can hear the sound. I tried burning the 1st half just in case it worked well on my DVD player. I used VCDeasy to generate the CUE file and then burned it with Nero. The same thing happened on my DVD player..... works fine until the end where its black but I can hear the sound. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Nick

  2. Another problem:

I thought I'd burn another movie while my 1st question was answered and I came across this problem.

I followed the steps for Virtualdub from here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm#audio
When I selected Save WAV it gives me this error:
"The requested Audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format"

What does this mean? I have sucessfuly used Virtualdub for extracting audio before.....

  4. sounds like you have an ac3 audio format ...

make sure its set in direct stream mode and avi audio (not wav)...

Then select save wav from file menu .... select all files .... and type ....something like audio.wav.ac3

Now some will say you then need to take this file and covert to a WAV with besweet etc ..... I simply then using TMPGEnc to use this created .ac3 file as my audio source...

    try it ..

The "How To" on this site says to set it to Full Processing mode, but when I set it to Direct Stream copy it works...... so which one are you really supposed to use? Thanks for your help on my Virtualdub question....... I'll see if the movie turns out right.....

Have any ideas for my 1st question?

  6. not sure about your first problem ....

    FOr the second ...

For straight forward audio I think you DO set to full processing mode .. and then you can save as a WAV ....

But for ac3 audio V.Dub can not deal with the audio - so all you can do is set to direct stream mode and save ..... whilst it tries to save as a wav, by renaming to .ac3 extention means that you can then use Besweet or AZID to take the .ac3 and covert to a wav .....

But, I find that TMPG... will take this .ac3 named file extention and produce required VCD with no problems ....

    Good luck ..

  8. This is for my 1st problem:

I played the AVI I d/led, and went to the same exact spot where my VCD I made, and the mpeg TMPG made go black. At the same exact spot the movie freezes.... If I move the thingy around to different places the movie will continue as normal..... So, does this mean that this is a problem with the AVI I downloaded and not something that I did wrong?

Using Direct stream it worked in virtual dub..... But when i try to open the 1st half of the AVI video in TMPG it crashes. I reinstalled TMPG and it still happens. Doesnt do this w/ other videos, just the James Bond Die Another Day AVI I d.led...
