i'm not too impressed with the sound my DVD's are producing, and am wanting to improve this. right now i'm capturing my DV home movies with premiere, then converting to mpeg2 using tmpgenc, then burning on DVD with ulead workshop or movie factory 2. there seems to be no range and depth in the sound being produced using this method... everything sound really bright.
- what is the best way to improve the sound quality?
- what programs should i use?
i'm not looking to try to put the audio into 5.1 surround or anything... just want it to sound better than it currently does. thanks very much for your time and any help, peace![]()

Extract the audio from your DV file as a wav and then convert it to AC3, which you should use anyway if your disc is going to be NTSC. BeSweet seems to work well for the conversion and it's here in the tools section. Or you could just use the wav if you're not trying to get much play time on a disc.
If you do any cutting in TMPGEnc you can also set it to output a wav file, that way you can convert the wav file to ac3 with besweet and still have your audio match your video.
Another thing to look into is setting TMPGEnc to use external audio tools like ssrc and toolame. TMPGEnc > Option > Environmental Setting > Audio Engine.
