so i just picked up a Cendyne DVR-105 4x at Office Max today for $169, yea that right, $169![]()
ANYWAY, didnt get a chance to hook it up yet, but i saw on there website it says...
Features:
New! 4th Generation DVD-R/RW Writer.
Write Movies, Music and Data to 4.7GB DVD + - media.
Support for Digital Audio Output (S/PDIF).
All-in-one DVD-R/RW & CD-R/RW recorder designed to offer the widest possible playback compatibility.
the part in bold, is what im curious about... DVD + - media?
does that mean it burns both types?
everywhere else on the page, it makes it seem that its only -R

stock boys in the back room write much of ad copyware -- but they generally get it more correct than the ad company .. -
johneboy, check your DVD burner again. I think you got the (2x) DVR-104 instead of the DVR-105. Picked one up myself at OM today for the same price as you. It was the DVR-104. OM doesn't even carry the DVR-105 yet. Still a smokin' deal, though!

they were originally advertising the 104 at the officemax by me, but they ran out or something, and i picked up a 105 (4x) instead

- I was surprised to get the DVR-105 at OfficeMax, though I was really, really happy about it. It seems to be working OK for me tonight, though I have run into problems with Memorex media, both DVD-R and CD-R, the Phillips CD-R's I have worked great, but I don't have any other DVD-R's except for the Memorex ones I bought at CompUSA today. I have looked around on the forums and the net to try to see what people recommend, and I have seen some negative comments about Pioneer and Memorex media. When I tried to burn the Memorex DVD-R I get a Power Calibration Error.
What are you folks using and getting good results with?
Thanks,
Henry -
I have used FujiFilm DVD-R. 4/4. No problem burning. Works great on my Sony stand alone -
I also got a 4x model. In fact, in OM ads, they list 2 stock numbers, one is for 2x, the other one is for 4x. Now I need to find some cheap blank discs.
