Perhaps the topic sounds silly. Here I have some movies as SVCD's burnt on CD-Rs. I would like to "extract" the MPEG-files from those CDs, add some menus, music and such things and finally burn them again as SVCDs.
Can I just use the MPEG-file in that folder on the CD which can be accessed by the Explorer? Do I get a loss in quality? Or must I convert it somehow? If so, how?
THX in advance and happy new year!

u can use vcdeasy with no loss in Quality to rip from a cd or image

Just to provide a little more information, VCDEasy has a front-end to the vcdxrip tool from vcdimager. It will extract all of the files necessary to recreate the SVCD (including the MPEG) and generate a vcdimager XML file.

Thank you for your answers!
I will try it with the program you proposed if there's no other way.
Why can't I simply take the file in the folder [CD-ROM]:\MPEG2\AVSEQ01.MPG? Or can I? -
