  1. I have 42 discs of Dark Angel burnt in mpg (with no authoring) I thought that I would never be able to play them on a TV until I read that the Philips DVD 724 played them, so I bought it and put the disk in the tray and it played... 30 secs later it paused but then it played again... about a minute later a menu appeared with the file name repeated many times as if the disc had many files with the same name, then it played another part and then the menu appeared again and then it played another part but in a small square at the top of the screen am I doing something wrong??? is the player bad??? help plz

  2. I would be willing to bet you are doing something wrong, and if not, you may have a faulty player. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Philips 724AT, because I have that very same player, and it has played everything I have ever played in it from virtually every format possible. I honestly believe that bad boy would even play a pancake if I put it in there. I have never done any burning from TV shows such as Dark Angel, so I'm not sure about the methods you would go about to create and/or author the mpg files. You may want to research the forum a little more on other methods which you could use to make another dark angel disk, and do it on an RW to test. As far as your DVD Player goes, as I said, it is the most versatile standalone player on the market to my knowledge, and the chances that you have a defect probably isn't great, but it is possible.

  4. I take it you basically put an MPEG file onto a CD-ROM??

    That is NOT a VCD.

This is what a VCD is: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcd

You MUST use a VCD authoring program. For example, use the Nero wizard to make your VCD or use a program like VCDEasy: http://www.vcdeasy.org
