  1. i grabbed a stack of my current dvd's...some are under 4.7gb and so are 9.7

i downloaded the newest version of dvd decryptor

i put the dvd goldmember in my brand new cendyne $169 OfficeMax burner - the program pre-highlited the main movie files

i ripped the dvd to the pre-created dvd decryptor folder

i did some research and someone mentioned that i would need the following files, in addition to the main files that dvd decryptor selected...

    video_ts.ifo
    viedo_ts.bup
    vts.01_0.bup
    video_ts.vob
    vts_01_0.vob

i then went back and ripped those selected 5 files into my pre-selected dvd decryptor folder

ready to burn...i opened up the newest version of nero, selected 1.02 mode and burned the movie to my fujifilm dvd-r media

went into my rca player (from last christmas) and it gave me an error - the disk works on my computer but will not play in my player

i have been researching this dvd to dvd-r all day, someone please help me - i would like to go to bed

if someone could tell me what i need to do to backup this dvd without encoding it, i would appreciate it - i would prefer free/demo programs and as easy as possible

    thanks guys...

  2. well you can copy dvds that are under 4.7 gigs (dvd5) with dvd decrypter. as for the one that are over 4.7 gigs (dvd9) you are going to have to split them onto two dvds. you can do that with ifoedit.

Nope, if the main movie is over 4.37GB, Your going to have to re-encode or use multiple disks... Unless its real close, in which case you could cut the credits off.. Who needs them anyways

None of us do, now do we ?
I did this one not too long ago and as I recall Goldmember did not make the cut. RE: Re-encode, Compress and Author.

This is only for DVD 9's that can not be reduced to a workable 4.5 GB by ripping just the main movie, if so It is just a straight rip and burn with (DVDDecrypter) another good freeware program, or whatever program you prefer,
I have had great success with this method on DVD 9 to 5. It is not all freeware but I have spent many nights and countless time on a lot of software and found this method flawless, if followed precisely, on each attempt. You have to decide for your self what works for you time, cost ect. I have made many many copy's of my DVD's and no costers since I started using this process. None of this is my software nor do I have any affiliation with the software providers I just know it makes great DVD's and it is all still available unlike most of the guides I tried that get you half way through the process and then you find out some of the software or other necessary component does not exist any more or costs an arm and a leg.

    Not free but cheap

  6. please read the conversion guides at www.doom9.org They have what U need to know & as for just copying some files across U actually require to create new ifo's & bup files to get the dvd to work on a standalone.

free stuff... remepeg, ifoedit & chapter xtractor!! (rip a dvd & re author)

I tried the exact same thing when I got my dvd writer - technically speaking, in my opinion this should work. I tried to rip the selected episodes from "The Office" dvd, and then the files at the start that a dvd needs to work. I'm not sure if I burnt it right with nero, and the result didn't display on my dvd player although it played on my friends with a menu etc.

Now, can I just ask, if you were to copy the menu parts of the dvd, and the film parts that you want could this not be turned into a dvd if it is the right size with no encoding? one problem would be if you selected to play something from the menu that wasn't on the disc the dvd would crash but I could live with that as long as I have a menu?

At the moment i'm sticking with encoding in tmpgenc and authoring with ulead dvd factory but if anyone can give me some advice about what I just sed (if you understood it :S hungover) i'd be grateful

oh and sorry, just to mention, I did follow some type of guide to edit the ifo and remove macrovision and copyright in ifoedit but thats about as far as I did. the dvd worked in my pc, and in a friends, just not in the 2 i have.
