I have a Apex-1100W (Great Product and very affordable) but on to the problem! Does anyone know how to manually turn on/off the pbc (playback control) I have read the manual over and over and nowhere do i see where to turn it on/off manually, the problem is after playing a regular dvd, it must automatically turn the pbc off and then when i try to play a vcd/svcd it wont play unless pbc is on, i have to go into the player preferences and set everything back to default then pbc "usually" comes back on.....i have never had a problem playing any of my vcd/svcd/mpeg or anything else as long as pbc is on....but if it's off, the player doesnt recognize the disc, i get the "no disc" msg on screen... if anyone knows how to turn pbc back on manually or run into this problem before please post...any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx!

If anyone reads my previous post.....I fixed my problem
it was not a pbc issue....although i still would like to know how to turn pbc on/off manually....my problem was after playing a retail dvd disc and then trying to play one of my back up cdrs the cdr would not spin up obviously giving me the no disc msg on screen....obviously there is a weight/balance difference in retail dvd and cdr....i had to take the cover off my apex-1100w to fix the problem..(very easily done i might add) the problem was the lens assembly for some reason does not go all the way back in place after playing a retail dvd or dvdr therefor not seeing the cdr after inserting it...and it wouldnt pick it up to spin it up and read it....if anyone runs into this problem.....and im sure im not the only one....remove the cover..open the tray...leave it open...when viewing from the frt...on the right side you will see a black metal bar with 2 white plastic circles attached to it..and the lens assembly attatched to it...push it back with your finger or a small screwdriver as far back as it will go,(a little force is required) (if you try to push lightly the tray and all will move, the lens assembly has to slide on the bar as far back as it will go) insert your cdr, close tray and the lens assembly will adjust itself back to the correct posistion, and now your cdrs should spin up and load, i have no idea why this happens but it will fix the problem, hope this helps anyone who runs into this problem, sorry the post is so long, but i felt like i should let everyone know if they run into this problem..cuz i was starting to get po'ed....was about ready to get me another player...if anyone reads this and should know about turning the pbc on/off manually let me know...me and some friends have a norcent at my job that we watch during our lunch break and the remote for it has an on/off button for the pbc?¿ which makes it quite nice.....thanx in advance to all that post

Hello SVCDM|KE
FYI you have a bad loader. What you are telling us is a way to come around it. Eventually you will soon have to change the loader or buy a new player.Cheers // Radioman -
Hello Radioman.....thanx for the advice but i dont think there is nothing wrong with the loader....if mine is bad, then me and at least 500 other people who has had the same problem will be getting new players, it was the ribbon cable connected to the lens that was to tight and not letting the lens move to the correct posistion to read disc, but as long as it's still working, and it is so far, for 57$, im not complaining, it seems to be doing fine since i give the ribbon some slack so it could move. peace out..
