What would happen if i put in a Video card that says requirements are a 300watt supply and i only have a 250?

I currently have 1cdrw drive, 1dvdrom drive, 1 3.5 drive, 1 40gig HD running off of the power supply right now, i want to add a 64mb vid card that says it requires a 300watt supply, do i really need to up my power or will i be okay?

1.) Everything will work like crap and you may damage your hardware, some of it may not even work.

2.) You will, in a few days, melt your power supply because it will work so hard.

I strongly recomind you buy a new power supply because it's cheaper to replace that than it is to have to replace ur entire motherboard, ram chips, HDD, etc.
