I when ever I play a vcd on my Apex 660 DVD player the audio always goes in and out of synch, and sometimes the movie will speed up to catch up with the audio. I usually encode my .avi files to 1300Kbit for video and 128 for audio. I do have some vcds where the sound is perfect but the quality of the video is poor. I was told that it was my DVD player, can anyone confirm this for me???

You should try a standard VCD - there is one on this site or www.vcdimager.org. Standard bitrates are 1150 video, 224 audio. That way you can pinpoint it to the disc or the player.
