Anybody else out there have the same problem? Any suggestions? So many people within the forum seem to be having good results with the upgrade I'm wondering if there was something I did wrong in the upgrade.

Can I go back to the previous firmware version? If yes where can I get it?

Desperately seeking help as Sony's technical support sucks!

P.S. This is the error message I get when trying to burn:

"Could not complete last command because: Stream not initialized (DVDErr, -19930)"

  2. Can't help you, but if you are using USB connection, try firewire. Who knows... it might help.

  3. Sony Vaio computers have a Sony driver for the firewire ports. I have heard of device problems unless one switches to the Windows native firewire driver is used. Worth a try. You might do a Google search on these keywords & read about others who have had Sony computer firewire compatibility issues.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

Wanted to thank everyone for their input and suggestions. After running the drive utility found my hardware was working fine but still running the old firmware. Finally got through to Sony and within a 15 minute call found a software conflict with the Roxio products. Once I uninstalled all software that came with my DRX500UL AND all my Roxio software, I was able to sucessfully install the firmware update and then all the included software. I've done two test burns (on +RW of course) and everything appears to work well.

No just need my projects to play on my Sony stand alone dvd player (DVP-S300). This website says the media I'm using +RW and +R should be compatible so don't know if there is something else I should be doing.

But thanks again for all of your help. GREAT WEBSITE and GREAT Forum for information from very helpful people!
