Hi. I will be visiting a friend in the USA at the end of January. I want to order a Sony DRU-500a and have it sent to him. What is the best internet price for the unit at the moment? Can I do any better than the $325 quoted on pricegrabber.com? Are there any online retailers that you would recommend or not recommend?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  2. I saw one in OfficeMax or OfficeDepot for $379 yesterday.

I think most of the stores will get som after Jan 4th ( I was reading it here). Maybe you should look around after that.

  3. You won't believe this but my nearest BestBuy had 2 Sony DRU500A for $429 each (this is not a typo)

So I guess if you can order one at $325 will be the best price you can get for it.

  4. Could it be the standalone? Thats what I saw at Best Buy, not the internal.

  7. Office Depot will match CompUSA and Best Buy's price of $350, just let them know and they can look it up on their websites. That's how I got mine
Burning with a Sony DRU-500a on an AMD ATHLON XP 2000+ system.

  10. I saw the external drive at $750 canadian yesterday. Thats way to expensive for my taste.

The internal drive is list at $575. The pioneerA05 is list at $450. They have the pioneer drive in stock but what I really want is the sony drive.

The problem is there seems to be a major worldwide shortage of this drive.

  11. I went to BestBuy yesterday and surprise ... they had two of these on the shelf. What was realy funny was that I was visiting this store almost twice a week for last couple of weeks and they didn't have any and suddenly they have 2. And they are deffinitly old models since on the nox there is nothing about 4x +R speed and boxes look kind of.... not realy new... dirty ?!?! $349 for now.
