  1. Hello,

I am new to this forum by the way. Anyway, I used Nero 5.5.3.2 and converted a regular .mpg file to a VCD and it played fine on my DVD player. I used a CD-writer (which is all I have..no DVD burner here).

My question.....is there a software that is freeware that will allow me to convert to a better quality than VCD? I think I have heard I need to convert to MPEG-2 to get better quality.

Thanks for your help and patience for I am a newbie.
